Self-Tapping Screw Snap Sets: $2.50 each
-
3M Self-Adhesive Snap Sets: $4.50 each
Most RVs need one "snap set" about every 6 to 8 inches around the perimeter.
For example, a 42’ RV with two, 2’ slide-outs (approx. 106 ft perimeter) will need around 160 snaps.
Add a few extras for cutouts or storage bays — about 4 additional snaps per, plus we recommend 10% more to cover learning curve, setup adjustments, and additional fastening points.
Ground Support Options
-
PVC Frame (Recommended for use on pavement, pavers, asphalt or hard soil areas):
We can include PVC frame components in your kit upon request.
However, for shipped kits, we recommend purchasing 1” PVC pipe, corner pieces, and clips locally to save on freight costs (shipping long pipe sections gets pricey fast).
Our goal is to help you build your setup affordably and efficiently!
-
All DIY kits come with an example of what the PVC frame will look like to help you purchase parts for your kit!
-
-
Anchor Stakes: Use tent or landscape stakes to pin the skirting directly into the ground — ideal for soft soil or grassy sites.
-
Weighted Bags or Blocks: For gravel or concrete pads, place sandbags, bricks, or concrete blocks along the bottom edge. This is the easiest solution for portable or short-term setups.
-
Wood Frame Base: Build a simple 2x4 frame inside the skirted area to add stability and insulation, while doubling as a small platform or storage surface.
How to Measure Your RV
To estimate how much material you’ll need:
-
Measure the length of each side of your RV, including slide-out depths.
-
Add the front and rear widths of the rig.
-
If you have a fifth-wheel hitch area, measure that separately — this section often requires taller custom panels.
Tip: Round up slightly to account for corners, overlaps, and fabrication adjustments.

Crafting Excellence

RV Skirting in Bend, Oregon:
Stay Comfortable All Year Long
If you live or travel through Bend, Oregon, you know how quickly the weather can change — cold mornings, windy afternoons, and hot, dusty summers. For RV owners, those temperature swings can make heating and cooling expensive. That’s where custom RV skirting comes in. Proper skirting creates an insulated barrier around the base of your rig, helping keep warm air in during the winter and cool air in during the summer — saving energy and protecting your plumbing year-round.
Whether you’re parked at a long-term RV site, camping in the Cascades, or living full-time in your rig, skirting is one of the smartest upgrades you can make.
Choosing the Right RV Skirting for Your Setup
Before you decide which style of skirting to install, ask yourself a few key questions:
-
How much do I want to invest in my setup?
-
Am I okay with adding small fasteners along the lower edge of my RV?
-
Do I want to install it myself or hire a professional?
Your answers will help determine what kind of skirting — and installation method — best fits your rig and lifestyle. Some RV parks around Central Oregon have skirting rules, so it’s always worth checking with your park or resort manager before starting a project.
Budget-Friendly Options
If you’re looking for something temporary and inexpensive, a simple plywood wind block can do the job in a pinch. Placing plywood panels around the base of your RV helps reduce drafts and keeps snow from piling underneath. It’s quick and affordable, but not the most durable — and certainly not the most attractive option for long-term use.
Durable, Professional-Grade Vinyl Skirting
For a more permanent and visually clean solution, vinyl skirting is the go-to choice. Heavy-duty vinyl panels hold up well against Bend’s winter winds and summer heat, creating a snug, insulated barrier that looks professional.
To get the right fit, measure from the ground to about one-third of the way up your RV (just above the wheel wells), then add an inch or two of extra material so it can be weighted at the bottom. Custom-fitted panels reduce gaps and prevent air leaks, which means better insulation and more stable temperatures inside your rig.
If you’re taking the DIY route, you’ll decide how many panels to use — longer panels mean fewer seams and better insulation, though shorter sections can make accessing storage compartments easier. Either way, overlapping your panels by at least a few inches helps seal out wind and moisture.
Attachment Options: Permanent or Removable
If you’re comfortable drilling small holes along the lower edge of your RV, snap or twist-lock fasteners are a solid choice. They’re durable, long-lasting, and create a secure seal — just be sure each fastener is properly aligned to avoid damaging your siding.
For a more permanent and professional setup, many RV owners choose a Keder rail system. This involves mounting an aluminum track along the lower perimeter of your rig, with a custom-fabricated vinyl skirt that has a flexible Keder cord sewn into the top edge. The skirt slides smoothly into the rail, creating a tight, weather-sealed connection that looks clean and performs exceptionally well year after year.
If you’d prefer a drill-free option, there are plenty of alternatives — such as adhesive Velcro, industrial HVAC tape, or heavy-duty adhesive studs. When applied to a clean surface, these can provide a reliable temporary hold through the winter months without making any permanent modifications to your RV.
Once your panels are attached, it’s important to make sure the bottom edge stays tight and secure against wind and moisture. A simple and effective method is to build a lightweight PVC frame underneath your RV and use plastic clips to fasten the vinyl directly to the frame. This approach keeps the skirting snug to the ground, prevents flapping in strong winds, and creates a clean, consistent seal around the entire perimeter.
The PVC frame system also makes setup and removal easy — it can be assembled or broken down in minutes, packed away compactly, and reused season after season. It’s a practical option for anyone who wants reliable performance while keeping the system simple, repeatable, and easy to store when not in use.
Another easy option is to fold the fabric inward toward the RV and use heavy objects—like sandbags, landscape pavers, dirt or gravel, or weighted bags—along the inside perimeter. The goal is to maintain a tight seal without stressing the fabric. Taking a few minutes to secure the edges properly will make a big difference in how well your skirting insulates and performs throughout the season.
Pro Tips for a Better Seal
When measuring and cutting your panels, be sure to account for access points such as storage bays, stairs, electrical hookups, and plumbing lines. Adding zippers or Velcro flaps in these areas allows for quick access without removing large sections of your skirting.
If you own a fifth-wheel trailer, it’s worth extending your skirting around the hitch area. This creates a clean, finished look and can also serve as a convenient storage space for outdoor gear, tools, or seasonal equipment.
To keep the bottom edge secure, you can insert a lightweight PVC pipe or wooden dowel with clips, or fold the fabric inward and anchor it with heavy objects or stakes. In areas with strong winds or heavy snow — like Central Oregon — some RV owners even build a simple wooden frame inside the skirted area. This not only adds strength and insulation but can also double as a shelving or storage system for extra stability and functionality.
